Pizza Diavola Recipe

“Pizza Diavola,” translating to the devil’s pizza, is a delightfully spicy creation and ranks among my personal favorites.

  • 2 pizza dough balls
  • 3.5 ounces Mozzarella
  • 14 ounces Passata
  • 7 ounces Spicy Salami
  • 2 fresh chillies
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt

  1. Preheat the oven to 410°F.
  2. Roll out each pizza dough ball to approximately 12 inches in diameter using a circular stretching technique or a rolling pin.
  3. Prepare the sauce by combining the passata with three tablespoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt.
  4. Slice the spicy salami into thin pieces and finely chop the fresh chillies (be cautious about touching your eyes afterward).
  5. Slice or dice the mozzarella.
  6. Add half of the tomato sauce to each pizza base, spreading it evenly and leaving a half-inch perimeter.
  7. Top with mozzarella, spicy salami, and finish with the chopped chillies.
  8. Drizzle with additional olive oil.
  9. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes or until golden.
  10. Remove from the oven, slice, and savor your delicious pizza diavola.
